Kodawari Shiba Inu Kennel
We are a small scale breeder of Shiba Inu, located in Suurupi, Harjumaa, Estonia. Our kennel name Kodawari was approved by FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) and EKU (Estonian Kennel Union) in June 2020. Our kennel is also a member of Nippo (Nihon Ken Hozonkai). Kodawari can be translated from japanese as “the uncompromising pursuit of perfection”.
Our mission is to protect, preserve and promote the ancient Shiba breed. We aim to breed as close to the origin as possible, and wish our dogs to meet the breed standard in terms of temperament, exterior and health. We want to breed self confident dogs with physical and mental qualities needed to meet the breed’s origins. We do our utmost to achieve this.
Our breeding is based on long-term goals and we breed only individuals and combinations we believe would give the types of dog we would own ourself. Different quality assessments are used as a basis for breeding: exterior judgments at dog shows and health controls (e.g. HD/ED x-ray, DNA-tests, eye examination etc). Our goal is to preserve and strengthen the good qualities and improve what could be better. We value our dogs´ safety and wellbeing. All of our dogs are treated with respect.
We expect that puppy buyers invest their time and energy to get a well behaving and balanced dog. Dogs need rules to be established, as well as positive learning.
A breeder is not a person who uses any male dog of the same breed to breed his female dog in order to produce puppies that are in demand on the market.
